Warming things up this winter introduces hot metals to the scene. Gold is a gorgeous addition to your home decor. If you’re worried that it’s flashy or OTT, read this.

    Cheers, Copper!

Copper is going out of style this year, in favour of brass and gold. It’s all about being bold this year! The great thing about this is that the furniture and accessories that matched the copper will also match the brass and gold. And, don’t be afraid to mix your metals. Gold goes with everything.

    Hello, Warm Gold

It can be tempting to choose any old gold accessory, but be careful. You don’t want the effect to look tacky. When looking at gold items, make sure they’re in warm tones of gold so that they enrich your home with the jewel colours that are so hot this season.

    A Touch Of Shimmer

Don’t think the gold you bring into your home decor has to be done in large amounts. Small touches are enough to create eye-catching shimmer. For instance, by adding some bright gold to your black items, you bring them to life. In fact, gold works beautifully with neutrals to add a bit of spice without too much glamour.

    Shine With The Details

Seeing as though you’re using gold in small quantities, make them count by concentrating on details. Choose picture frames that are hand-carved, for instance, or gold vases that have beautiful patterns. This makes the overall effect so much more beautiful. Make every piece matter.

    What About Gold Paint?

It seems like gold paint is not high on the decor trends lists this year, but that doesn’t mean gold shouldn’t feature on your ceilings and walls. You just have to be wise about how you do it. Consider stencilling gold patterns on a white wall to brighten it up and make it feel warmer, or creating an accent wall that has some gold lines or chevrons on it. This helps you stay on point with the trends, while giving your home some decor that you’ll love for many winters to come.
