Coco Africa was founded in 2011 by Cindy Douglas. The company lies in the heart of the world-renowned Franschhoek winelands, an hour drive from Cape Town, in South Africa. Here these talented artisans design and produce unique, timeless, timber lifestyle products with a calm beauty. Each item is skillfully handcrafted from solid wood or other exciting mediums. Coco Africa uses sustainably managed timber & practices environmental sensitive policies.

Thoughtfully Designed

The production team started with Aubrey and has grown to a team of three artisans: Sivuyisi (Aubrey) Nybole, Vuyo Mpahleni & Eldriek Jack. “Each product has been touched by human hands at least 10 times before we are happy with the quality of the product”, says Cindy. The processes of making each product are not all automated and many of the products are finished by hand. These processes include picking the wood, planing, shaping, joining, sanding, finishing, branding, lasering, cleaning and packing.

Small production runs of about 420 units per month allow the team great flexibility in creating many varied and custom products. As well as timber, Coco Africa also works with different mediums such as acrylic, recycled paper & resin products, metals and leather. The company has recently launched a beautiful range of wooden products mixed with acrylic which has been skillfully joined together with feather joints. “We are constantly looking at innovative ways of packaging our products, this provides the products with unique selling features that make them stand out from the rest”.
