Cleaning your home doesn’t have to pollute the environment. There are many easy and eco-friendly ways to spruce up your home with ingredients found right in your kitchen.

    1. Shower Power!

When cleaning your shower, avoid chemical cleaners in favour of borax and white vinegar. All you need are a quarter-cup of borax and a cup of white vinegar in a spray bottle. Spritz it onto the shower wall and let it soak for about an hour before you clean it off with a cloth.

    2. Shine On

Pop open the booze! Vodka can be used to clean quite a few different surfaces throughout the home, including chrome, glass and porcelain. It’s a great natural disinfectant so simply add some of it to a cloth and wipe!

    3. Get Dusting

You can easily dust your home with a microfibre cloth. It zaps dust easily and doesn’t scratch surfaces. Make sure it’s re-usable, though, so you can use it for a long time.

    4. Spray Your Tub Clean

You can clean your bathtub of stubborn stains and dirt with baking soda and soap. Mix them together and get cleaning. If the stains are particularly stubborn, add some borax to the mix.

    5. Make Glass Sparkle

Another great idea for cleaning glass surfaces like windows and coffee tables is to take four cups of warm water and add 1/4 cup of white distilled vinegar to it. Use it in a spray bottle to make glass look gorgeous in a flash.

    6. Zap Mould

Mould can feel stressful to deal with, but you don’t need to clean it up with chemicals. Dissolve some baking soda in water and spray it onto the mouldy surface. Allow it to sit for a while before scrubbing it clean with a cloth. The great thing about baking soda is that it’s a mild cleaner but it works as a disinfectant without a strong scent.

    7. Flush Dirt With Tea Tree Oil

Did you ever think you could clean your toilet with essential oils like tea tree? You really can! Just add two teaspoons of this oil to two cups of water. Put them in a spray bottle and spray the mixture inside the toilet bowl. Leave it on for about half an hour before scrubbing it clean.

    8. Polish Wood Furniture

You don’t need fancy polish for your lovely wood furniture. You can make your own with lemon and olive oil. Simply mix two cups of olive oil with the juice of one fresh lemon. Dip a soft cloth in the mixture and then use it to polish your furniture.

    9. Keep the Fridge Fresh

If your fridge doesn’t smell so hot, use coffee! It’s great at absorbing smells and really easy to use. Stale coffee grounds that you’re not going to use to brew are especially great because you prevent them from going to waste. All you need to do is place a bag of coffee grounds in the fridge for two days.

    10. Get A Home That Smells Great

You want your home to smell inviting when you enter it at the end of the day, but you don’t want to breathe in chemical air fresheners. Rather use essential oils like lavender to create a sweet-smelling sanctuary.
