[dropcap1]Y[/dropcap1]ou might think a bed and good storage space makes for a great bedroom, but think out of the box! There are some other bedroom essentials you might not even have thought about. Here are five that you need.
A Seating Area
You might not want to bring a desk into your bedroom because you don’t want to think about work during your downtime, but a spot to sit and have breakfast while reading the newspaper makes your bedroom a beautiful sanctuary! Items of furniture like a beautiful armchair and table are also a great opportunity to bring different design elements to the room.
Creative Side Tables
Bedside tables are a must for resting important items, such as a reading lamp for those late-night fiction marathons, but avoid conventional tables. Bring a dash of creativity with DIY tables. You could use pretty boxes, luggage, or even a small ladder as a funky side table that injects personality into the most personal room of the house.
Stunning Artwork
You might want to fill your bedroom with pictures of those you love, but you can do this in other areas of your home. The bedroom should be just about you, so choose a piece of artwork that you really love and which makes you feel good every time you look at it. If you really want to be different, why not make your headboard a beautiful piece of art?
A Great Mirror
A mirror can make your space feel brighter and bigger, especially if you use it to reflect the windows. It should also contain a frame that complements the rest of the room’s style. So, for instance, if you have a vintage style in your bedroom, a vintage mirror can complete the decor. Make the mirror work for you on a practical level, though. If you’re using it to do your makeup in the morning, you want it to be in a well-lit area of the room. If you want to check your outfit in the mirror before you leave the house, make sure it’s full-length!
Soothing Smells
The feeling you get in a room isn’t just about how it looks, but what feelings it evokes. Your bedroom should be a calming space and smell relaxing so that you can instantly unwind when you get home. You can create great scents with a vase of beautiful roses, a soothing yet natural room spray, or keeping lavender essential oil handy.
