[dropcap1]Y[/dropcap1]our entryway is the first part of your home that guests see, so make sure it’s vibrant. As Oprah Winfrey once said: your house should rise up to meet you.

Here are some interesting and creative entryway ideas to make you feel happy to be home.

    Be Bold

It might be tempting to keep your entryway in a pale or neutral colour to play it safe, but do the opposite. A bold entryway with items such as a rug and bench in a bright colour can be just the boost of warmth you want when entering your home.

    Give It Character

The rest of your home reflects your personality, so why should the entryway be bare and plain? Use the walls in an interesting way, such as by displaying family photos or sentimental ornaments, so visitors get insight into who you are as soon as they come through the front door.

    Hang A Mirror

If your entryway is a little dark, make sure you’ve got a large mirror on the wall to bring more light into the space. You can also make it decorative – but stick to light, bright colours to increase the feeling of lightness. Mirrors can also make a tiny entryway feel larger.

    Make It Useful

Sometimes the entryway is the perfect spot to dump belongings, like bags, keys, mail and coats. But it shouldn’t be a cluttered space. Think about the kind of things you need to store in the entryway and then choose your storage items wisely. A small table with pretty bowls can be perfect rest stops for your keys and mail, while colourful hooks on the wall can keep your coats and umbrellas out of the way.

    Take A Seat

You might think a small bench or chair seems silly in the entryway, but it can be practical. It’s the perfect spot to sit down and remove wet boots. It also looks charming. You could even choose a bench that has storage underneath it, for any extra things you want to pack away out of sight so that they don’t clutter your entrance.

    Keep It Well Lit

You want your entryway to have good lighting – this is not only safe when you enter your home at night but also much more welcoming than if it’s dark. Choose a ceiling fixture, wall sconces or even a trendy table lamp that will brighten up your place, making it a warm and welcoming home in a flash.
