[dropcap1]Y[/dropcap1]ou might not think of lighting as being part of your décor, but it makes a huge difference. In the summer months, especially, light can help you achieve a more uplifting, cheerful, and beautiful space. Here’s how to use it to its best potential.
Use Mirrors In Tight Spaces
If your entryway is looking dark and small, or you have a small room in your house that’s free of windows, use mirrors. These are great at making your space look bigger. And, if you do have some natural light streaming inside a room, mirrors will reflect that, creating a brighter, more appealing area. If you don’t want mirrors on the wall, consider using mirrored furniture to create the same effect.
Have A Lighter Touch With Fabrics
Light colours and fabrics help to make a space seem brighter. So consider pale or neutral fabrics when it comes to cushions, throws, and curtains. It’s also a good idea to think of ways to bring sparkly touches to your decor, such as with ornaments that have glitter or cushions flaunting lots of sequins. These touches help to brighten up a space. It’s almost like they highlight your neutral colours while reflecting more light.
Build With Glass
You can replace doors in your home with glass ones to bring more light inside, or even a few panels of glass in the door you already have. Another option is to build with glass bricks, which has the benefit of creating visual appeal.
Give Windows A Manicure
Make sure your windows aren’t covered in heavy curtains so that they can bring more light inside. If you have trees in the garden that are growing too closely to windows, cut some of their branches to let more light inside your home.
Spring-clean your windows by removing clutter from windowsills, scrubbing the glass to remove stains, and painting window frames white, can all help to make your space look airy and light.
