There’s nothing like the clean slate of a New Year to motivate you to want to add some flair to your home decor. If you’re nursing a home makeover bug, here are really easy ways to add trendy items to your sanctuary without blowing your budget.

    Bring Flashes of Color

It’s summer and you want to be surrounded by beautiful colours that uplift your mood. You can do this really easily with some new towels in the bathroom or a set of new cushions. Hand-embroidered recycled maize bag cushions are an interesting addition to the home and offer kaleidoscope colours to quickly invigorate your space.

    Play!

Don’t be afraid to bring different textures and patterns to your decor as this is a great way to create a more unique look. For instance, when it comes to your kitchen, bring delight to your decor with trendy papier maiche bowls that come in a variety of fun, bright colours and offer an interesting texture to your home.

    Clear the Clutter

Cleaning is part of changing your decor because you’ll be amazed at how different your rooms will look once you’ve cleared away items you don’t need. Pack things away in storage or donate them to a hospice so that they can be used by people who really need them, instead of taking up space in your home.

For small items you want to move out of sight, invest in quality storage jars that come in neutral colours so that they are versatile for every room and purpose. You can use them to stash small items that take up your work or kitchen space, or transplant small plants into them that will freshen up a room with greenery.

    Upcycle it

Some old pieces of furniture don’t have to be donated, though. They can be upcycled to look like brand new items. For instance, you could sand down wooden furniture before painting it in a bright new colour. Best of all, this doesn’t need to look perfect as the rustic look is always a great way to bring some charm to your interiors.
