[dropcap1]Y[/dropcap1]ou might associate summer with travelling around the world, but visiting different places during the autumn season can be spectacular. So do something outside of your regular travel itinerary and check out these beautiful Northern hemisphere countries when the weather starts to cool.
Poland
Head over to Zakopane. It’s one of the most popular holiday regions in the country, where you can enjoy hot comfort food in cabin restaurants followed by a bout of skiing in the mountains. Breathe in that fresh mountain air! It tends to be matched by sunny weather and colourful landscapes. Bliss.
New England
The Blue Ridge Parkway, situated a few hundred miles from New England in the United States, offers one of the most scenic journeys in the world. Here you’ll see beautiful trees like maples and poplars turn into a dazzling display of colour. Along the 469 miles that take you through Virginia and North Carolina, you’ll also get to see some beautiful traditions and culture, such as Cherokee life. Time for a road trip!
Scotland
Perthshire is a must-see in the fall. It’s known as “Big Trees Country”, and it’s perfect for snapping pictures of gorgeous natural landscapes dipped in the colours of autumn. Don’t leave before you’ve done The Hermitage walk as it comes alive at this time of year. Stroll along the River Braan banks where you’ll see leaping salmon. There are also beautiful rapids and waterfalls!
Belgium
Bruges is a medieval city in Belgium that looks straight out of a fairytale. During the crisp autumn season, its dream-like quality is intensified. You’ll see character-filled old buildings covered in yellow and red vines, and walk through cobblestone roads. Enjoy the autumn colours that make the canals come alive. It’s the perfect romantic location!
Italy
Piedmont, situated in the Northwest region of Italy, offers amazing feasts for the eye during autumn. Since Piedomont is located at the foot of the Alps, there are many Instagram-worthy walking opportunities. Witness the stunning colours of fall that inflame the mountains and vineyards. These colours are beautifully matched by the crisp views of Mount Viso where the Po river rises. You won’t want to leave, especially since there are chocolate and chestnut food festivals in which to indulge!
