    Think Out Of The Box

If you have long, flowing plants that drape over their pots, why not put their flowing form to good use? An idea is to drape the plants over items, such as bookcases or balconies. This helps to show off the plant while creating a whimsical effect in your home.

    Choose Plants With Texture

Go shopping for houseplants that have some interesting texture, such as spikiness or unusual flowers. This gives your room an interesting finishing touch.

    Fill In The Gap

If you have a spot in your room that’s empty or a corner that looks like it’s going to waste, fill it with a potted plant. Make sure that if you’re putting the plant in a shaded area it’s the kind that doesn’t need much sun.

    Put It In A Jar

You don’t need large pots for your plants, especially in the kitchen where you might be short of space. Fill up some mason jars with herbs – these are great green decor for the kitchen that’s also practical. You could also turn jars into tiny terrariums, filled with succulents that are pretty without being space grabbers. Perfect for any room in the house!

    Frame Your Furniture

Plants can create harmony in your space, such as if you use them to flank your furniture. For example, if you have a large bookcase or mirror you could set plants on either side of it to create structure and proportion.

    Bring Some Branches

Remember that you don’t need to go out and buy lots of plants. You can use parts of them, such as branches or pretty leaves, that you find outside. Place these in bowls, on the table or mantel and you’ll easily create a rustic effect to make your modern space more interesting.
