‘Sonka’ means bread in Xhosa. The organically edged shaped plate has been designed to hold a ciabatta loaf and a knife, but also makes the perfect serving platter for the table.
The organic range is hand shaped so all differ slightly. All are smooth and silky to the touch.
Handmade from solid Basswood, from sustainably forested plantations, in Cape Town, South Africa.
Situated in the winelands of Franschhoek, with a view of the Merlot vineyards, the workshop Douglas & Co, has trained up a talented team that manufactures for Coco Africa. Aubrey Nybole heads the production team with the essential production assistants Vuyo and Eldrich, all living in the Franschhoek community. We believe in an ethically responsible workplace.
The products are handcrafted in the Coco Africa workshop with a focus on designing timeless, comfortable pieces with a calm beauty. We love designing using organic shapes that have their own warmth and charm.
